We source our meat bird chicks from a local hatchery and raise them outside, on pasture, for about 9 weeks. They get moved to new grass daily (twice a day as they get older) and are supplemented with local feed.
$4 per pound; Birds are around 4-6lbs. each.
Our egg layer/heritage breeds are previous egg layers who have slowed/stopped laying and are now meat. They spent their lives freely ranging our 26+acres (and sometimes our neighbors yards), and because of that are lean with very yellow fat (indicative of grassy diets). They are a flat $10 each.
